Open to unsolicited manuscripts?

Yes, now seeking manuscripts for my 2025 schedule. 

While I am currently open to submissions, I am very particular about the manuscripts I choose to acquire for City Owl Press. I am actively seeking character-driven stories with strong female leads living and surviving in diverse, richly drawn worlds, and OWN-voices stories that straddle literary and high-concept fantasy.

Of particular interest to me is: unique magic systems, settings, and characters that reflect the diverse world we live in or want to escape to.

I also am interested in all sub-genres of well-written fiction with at least some romance elements, but have a special love for fantasy romance, cozy fantasy, humor, science fiction fantasy, found families, and mystery.

I am NOT seeking stories about military Sci-Fi worlds, damsels in need of saving, or non-fiction.

 

Books I Wish I’d Edited:

The Shadow and Bones series, Babel, Stardust, The Night Circus, Hamnet, Daisy Jones and the Six, Discovery of Witches and Witch King.

 

Freelance Edits

I am open to all genres for freelance edits including non-fiction, young adult, academic papers, and resumes.

However, I’m NOT interested in religious or political projects. 

 

My Favorite shows to binge:

New Girl, Ted Lasso, Stranger Things, Will Trent, Only Murders in the Building, Firefly, Castle, The Expanse, What We Do in the Shadows, Star Trek the Next Generation, Picard, Strange New Worlds, The Mandalorian, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Suits, The Bear, 1923, Schitt’s Creek, Pose and Reservation Dogs.

Favorite Films:

DUNE (old and reboot), IT (reboot), The Last Unicorn, The Shape of Water, The Lord of the Rings trilogy, Marvel films, The Conjuring series, Primal Fear, American History X, Snatch, Gladiator, The Departed, The Princess Bride, Stand By Me, Dead Poets Society, The Color Purple, Do the Right Thing, Everything Everywhere All at Once,  Love Jones, Pan’s Labyrinth, and Nope.
